Starting Your Affiliate Business Using Only an Opt In Page

Author: Kieran Flanagan

Many new internet marketers are looking for a way to start their business without the task of creating a large and complicated website. To solve this problem, many internet marketers have turned to creating a simple opt in page to start their affiliate business. If you are interested in beginning this profitable, yet comparatively low-maintenance online venture then here is a quick overview about how this entire process works.

The reason that this method is effective is because all profitable internet marketers understand that the money is in the list. It often takes a prospective buyer 6-8 times viewing a product before they decide to make a final purchase. With a list of people potentially interested in your product in hand, you can make sure that they are reminded about this product the required amount of times for them to make a purchase. Plus, you only have to maintain a select few website pages as well as your outgoing messages from your autoresponder.

The first thing that you need to do, assuming that you have chosen not only your niche but your product, is to create your opt in page. This is the page that people use to sign up for your list. It is important to create your own page and not just send people directly to the affiliate offer, because then you will have no way to contact them after they move on to your affiliate page. Rather you make them go through your opt in page first, so that you can contact them later. This allows you to not only promote the initial affiliate product, but products beyond that.

Once you have created your opt in page, you need to set up your autoresponder messages. These are critical because they not only set a welcome message, but also an innumerable amount of messages beyond that. Think about it, you can send them messages once a few days for an entire year once they have joined your list and you only have to write them once. It doesn’t matter if they sign up today or 6 months from now, they will still have a full year of messages ready to be sent to them at pre-determined intervals. Make sure that you invest in a quality autoresponder service to manage this for you and at a rate that you can afford.

You follow-up page, or page that a visitor is taken to after they have opted in, should be your affiliate page. Ideally, your visitor will make a purchase immediately, and you have made a profit. However, this is not the case in most instances. Fortunately for you, they are part of your list now, and you can do some additional pre-selling in your emails, and remind them of how great the product is. Hopefully, after a series of emails they have made a purchase. If not, you may want to move on after about 10 emails or so and show them a different product. This cycle can then continue forever or as long as they stay on your list. This means that you can sell them multiple products over several months, all from one simple opt in page.

    Hi Venu,

This is just my opinion, but you are moving in the wrong direction with Clickbank if you want to sell actual product and recruit affiliates who sell tangible products. Clickbank is full of downloadable products which are a dime a dozen, get rich quick schemes, etc… with minimal tangible goods.

You should look at Share a Sale, CJ, Performics, etc… for this; however before you start one on any network, read about adware, parasites, trademark poaching etc…

Also, read about the NY state tax laws and affiliate marketing.

You may also want to look at outsourcing to a company who will protect you from the above. The ones I recommend who will protect you from parasites, poaching, etc… are

    http://www.downtownecommerce.com – ask for Adam
    http://www.affiliatecrew.com – ask for Chuck
Madhatter but I do not know their website – ask for Kristin

These will all steer you in the proper direction.

If you cannot afford outsourcing the program, try using the services of:

    http://www.affiliatefairplay.com – ask for Kellie

Yes, you need to file a 1099 for each affiliate making over $600. This way the government knows how much they can claim.
